Bolangir: A three-member team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) on Monday reviewed infrastructure and other necessary facilities at Bolangir medical college and hospital.

As per reports, the team reviewed facilities at the hospital's auditorium, classrooms and laboratories.

The team later informed that it took stock of the ongoing works and also assessed infrastructure at the college.

"We verified the things that were asked from hospital authorities and checked whether they have been rectified or not. The previous report had mentioned about lack of beds in different departments in the hospital," said Dr. Nandraj.

The MCI will take a decision as per our report, he added.

The decision of the MCI based on the report of the team that visited today will decide whether the college could accept admissions of students from this year or not.

Besides, the team today reviewed the facilities at the medical college in Balasore district as well.

The Centre has approved establishment of five Government medical college and hospitals at Balasore, Koraput, Balangir, Baripada and Puri in 2014.

While medical colleges at Koraput and Baripada have already started functioning from 2017, the other three are yet to get MCI nod.
