Bhubaneswar: A total of 6,08,031 candidates appeared for the Social Science paper at 2,818 centres across the State on the last day of the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations today.

Even after a three-tier security was put in place by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) to prevent malpractice, the examination this year was still surrounded with controversies.

Excluding Sanskrit, questions papers of all the subjects got circulated on social media after the annual examination began on February 23.

The question paper of Social Science of Matriculation examination also went viral on social media in Kamakhyanagar and Jagatsinghpur. As per reports, photographs of Social Science question paper were circulated on WhatsApp within one hour of the commencement of the exam.

However, School and Mass Education Minister Badrinarayan Patra refuted the allegations and termed it as an intentional attempt to disrupt the examination.

Patra stated,"Talks on the circulation of Matriculation exam question paper on social media are rumours. The results of the examination will be declared in May."
