Bhubaneswar: In a bid to stop malpractice during the HSC exam conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the State government is considering for a change in the pattern for the annual examination. School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra announced the new pattern for the exams today during a cabinet meeting.

Patra told media, "As per the new proposals, Matric students will not be allowed to appear for the exam in their respective schools. They will be allotted another school within five km distance of the school in which they are studying."

In 2013, the Board had changed the rules allowing students in a majority of schools to appear the examination in their own alma mater.

After 12 Matric students were killed in road accidents while commuting to their examination centres in 2012, the School and Mass Education department had changed the rules on exam centres.
