Bhubaneswar: More than 6 lakh students in Odisha today appeared for the Annual HSC Examination 2018. The examinations will continue till March 8.

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has made all the necessary arrangements for the examination.

Three tier-security has been put in place to prevent malpractice. Around 58 flying squads and 37 central squads of the board have been constituted to maintain vigilance and ensure smooth examination, informed sources. Similarly, to stop malpractice, teachers have also been included in the squads.

As many as 6, 08,031 students reportedly appeared for the examination at 2,818 centres across the state.

Earlier, students reported at the examination centres by 8 AM and question papers were distributed at 8.45 AM. The examination began at 9 AM.

On the other hand, security has been tightened at sensitive examination centres in Maoist infested districts like Koraput, Malkangiri, Bolangir, Raygada, Gajpati, Kandhamal, Boudh and Deogarh.
