Bhubaneswar: A mass prayer was offered to Lord Jagannath on Sunday for the speedy recovery and well-being of Kandhamal conjoined twins Jaga-Kalia, who are currently under strict medical observation at AIIMS in New Delhi after first phase separation surgery.

AIIMS Neurosciences Centre chief Prof Ashok Mahapatra along with the members of Bhakta Dasia Trust offered prayers by lighting earthen lamps at a local temple here on Sunday.

"Without the grace and blessings of almighty, nothing can happen in the world. We prayed to the God to bless the twins with good health and long life," said Mahapatra.

As per reports, the first phase surgery of the twins has been successful and their condition is stable. The duo has been taken out of ventilator and shifted to the ICU.

Operation team leader Paediatric Neurosurgeon Prof Deepak Gupta had informed earlier that the babies would require one or two more operations within three months for final separation and till then they would be kept under observation.
