Malkangiri: A shocking act of brutality by Maoists has again come to fore after four villagers were punished in a 'Praja Court' conducted by the red rebels at Gagiaguda village under Mathili police limits in Malkangiri district.

According to reports, the Maoists had abducted eight villagers some 10 days back and thrashed four people for not cooperating with them.

"They first hit my legs and thrashed me," said a villager.

Another villager claimed that they were beaten inside a Maoist camp in the forest. Nearly 50 armed rebels had abducted the villagers and warned others not to pass on any information to police.

"They took us to the camp after covering several kilometers inside forest. After beating us, they released us with a warning," said a villager.
