Bhubaneswar: Mainly Maoists are infiltrating from the neighbouring state into Odisha to create disturbances, said DGP KB Singh today while ruling out possibilities of much activities of the local naxal cadres in the State.

Talking to newsmen after a high-level meeting at the DGP camp office in Bhubaneswar on anti-Maoist operations in the State, Singh said, “Demand for additional two battalions of CRPF personnel was presented before the CRPF Special DG (central zone) Kuldeep Singh during the talks.”

Besides, the DGP stated the discussion were also held on joint combing operations, activities of naxals in neighbouring States and ways to protect civilians in Rayagada, Koraput, Kalahandi and Malkangiri districts in view of the recent Maoist violence incidents.

Singh added more security cover will be provided to police informers.

This is the first visit of CRPF Special DG (central zone) Kuldeep Singh to Odisha after assuming the position.

Among others, Intelligence chief and IG Operations were also present in the meeting at the DGP camp office.
