Bhubaneswar: With Sukma attack that killed 25 CRPF men still raw in mind, a recent video showing a ‘guerrilla training’ camp of the extremist group has put the security forces on tenterhooks.

The video footage, source of which is yet to be ascertained, shows young cadres being rigorously trained by the group’s warfare experts. It too shows the cadres are being intensely tested the way security forces are put in their mandatory training period, to counter the anti-insurgency operations.

The activities of the cadres involve crouch and walk while holding log under the knees, crawling and walk downhill backwards. Such a footage has forced the security personnel to rethink  at the anti-Maoist operation strategy.

Given the renewed strategy of the left wing extremist groups, security experts too believe that the training programmes meant for the BSF, DVF and security personnel should be upgraded.

“We have seen how they easily ambushed our jawans in Sukma. Undoubtedly their number was high, but we failed to counter them and in the process we lost 25 lives. It is high time we upgraded the techniques to tackle such situations,” said former DGP Gopal Nanda.
