Malkangiri: Maoists once again unleashed terror by killing a tribal man over suspicion of being a police informer and torching a JCB machine and tractors engaged in road construction work at Nakamamudi Pipilipadar village in the cut off areas of Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sadhu Khemunu of Pipilipadar. The rebels believed that Khemunu was working for police, reports said. A group of armed extremists barged into his house last night and dragged him out. Later, they killed him by slitting his throat at a nearby forest.

Opposing road construction in the areas, the rebels set afire a JCB machine and three tractors at the village.

In a separate incident, the naxals put up posters at MPV-35 village in Kalimela of the district. They threatened locals of death punishment in Praja Court if they work for police and opposed police camp in the areas.

The poster further read, the village heads who are collecting fine from the innocent villagers, should refrain from such activities. The quacks have also been threatened for practicing sorcery.
