Maoist surrender - Deba Madhi

Malkangiri: A wanted Maoist, carrying Rs one lakh reward on his head, surrendered before the police in Malkangiri district today.

Expressing desire to return to the mainstream, Deba Madhi (34) surrendered before the Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra here, a senior police official said.

Deba, who had been active in naxal activities since 2013, was allegedly involved in about a dozen criminal offences including killing, explosions and attack on security forces, he said.

Odisha Government had announced a reward of Rs one lakh on the head of Madhi who decided to give up arms as he was disillusioned with the activities of the naxals, he said adding that he would be rehabilitated as per the policy of the state government.
