Maoist Radha surrenders before police

Malkangiri: In a major success for the police amid the observation of Maoist Martyrs’ Week, cadre Maoist Radha Madakami surrendered before Malkangiri SP today.

Talking to media persons, Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said Radha Madakami alias Soma Madakami was a member of the Kalimela Dalam and was working with the group for the past 14 years. She was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on her head.

He said there are over 50 cases pending against Radha.

"She was involved in the attack on G Udayagiri police station in Kandhamal district, Damanjodi mines in Koraput district, landmine blast in MV-126 village in Malkangiri district and ambush in Janhiguda," Mohapatra added.

Welcoming the woman Maoist to the mainstream, he said efforts would be made to ensure her livelihood as per the surrender rehabilitation policy of the state government.

According to sources, Radha was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on her head.
