Bhuabneswar/ Bolangir: A Maoist leader has released an audio tape threatening to take revenge on police for killing two of their cadres in Bolangir district earlier this month.

In the audio tape, Maoist leader Basant has alleged that police personnel are exploiting tribals. He threatened to take revenge on police informers as well.

It may be mentioned here that two members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), Sanjeeb and Rakesh, were killed near Dudukamal under Belpada block in Bolangir district on May 12. Sanjeeb, a Divisional Committee Member (DCM) had carried a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh while Area Committee Member (ACM) Rakesh had a bounty of Rs 4 lakh on his head.

The combing operation is being dubbed as a major success even though some rebels managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.

Yesterday, a meeting was held at DGP Camp office in Bhubaneswar to chalk out anti-Maoist strategies. A coordination meeting will also be held on June 8 to intensify anti-Maoist operations across the State, sources said.
