Maoist camp busted in Malkangiri; arms, ammunition seized

Malkangiri: A heavy exchange of fire took place between police and Maoists during a raid on a camp of the red rebels near Tikarpadu under Jodamba Panchayat in Malkangiri district on Monday.

According to reports, the exchange of fire took place inside the jungle near Tikarpadu when police forces tracked down a naxal camp during a combing operation.

However, taking advantage of the dense jungle as many as 50 Maoists, including leader RK escaped.

Huge stash of arms & ammunition has reportedly been seized by the police.

Police suspect that top cadres of Maoists had gathered at the camp to chalk out their strategy and future course of action.

Police have intensified search operation in the region. A joint combing operation of Andhra and Odisha  police is underway.
