Bolangir: Odisha police recovered a huge cache of ammunition from a Maoist camp at Chandili forest reserve under Lathore police limits in Bolangir district.

One live grenade, five kit bags, 12 containers and other articles have been recovered from the camp that was busted hours after a massive combing operation in the region yesterday.

The search operation was launched after security forces and Maoists were engaged in the fierce gun battle that lasted for over two hours yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of District Voluntary Forces (DVF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had conducted raids inside the forest area to trace the Maoists’ hideout.

“Our operation is still on but we have been able to bust the hideout and seized few ammunition including a live grenade with detonator. We are trying to ascertain whether there have been any casualties or not,” said SP K. Subramani.
