Rayagada: Police today seized six Maoist posters in Parsali panchayat of Kalyansinghpur block near Niyamgiri in Rayagada district.

Besides the six posters found from Parsali village, a banner was also found hung near Dangaria Kondh Development Agency near Parsali panchayat office.

In these posters and banners, the CPI Maoist Baghuna Divisional Committee has urged the people to observe Martyrs’ Week from July 28 to August 3.

Besides, the outfit has condemned police encounter in Gumuduma in Kandhamal, Niyamgiri and Dangamati in Rayagada and Nishaniguda and Pangapadar in Kalahandi district and demanded immediate withdrawal of SOG, CRPF and BSF personnel from these areas.

Talking to media persons, IIC of Kalyansinghpur police station Siba Prasad Das said police has removed the posters and banners.

"Since the posters have been issued under the banner of a new outfit, we are trying to find out if such a Maoist outfit is actually active in Rayagada district or someone has done a mischieft.

He, however, said it cannot be said right now whether the Maoists are active in this district. “As per information available with us, there is no Maoist movement in the district so far,” he said.
