Man’s throat slit, neighbour detained

Balasore: One Narendra Singh was found dead with his throat slit in Radhakishorepur village under Nilagiri block of Balasore district here on Monday.  Locals allege, Singh was murdered by his neighbour.

According to sources, a few villagers found Singh's body near a shop in Udapada of the village at around 9pm on Monday night. They immediately informed police about the murder following which police rushed to the spot and began investigation into the incident.

According to sources, Singh was murdered by his neighbour, Pinkua Jena  who reportedly had a verbal duel with Singh over an illicit relationship.

Irate locals later blocked the Radhakishore-Mitrapur road for a few hours demanding arrest of the culprit. Later, they withdrew after  being pacified by the police.

After a preliminary probe, police detained Jena and has started interrogating him. However, the actual reason of the murder has not been ascertained yet.

"We have detained Pinkua Jena of the village and are interrogating him. The murder is suspected to be an outcome of Jena’s illicit relationship. Further investigation is on,” said a police official.
