Bhubaneswar: A BJP delegation today met Governor SC Jamir at Raj Bhawan here and demanded stern action against BJD leaders and supporters who launched a brutal assault on BJP activists at Manamunda in Boudh district on July 29.

The delegation led by the leader of the BJP Legislature Party KV Singhdeo met the Governor at Raj Bhawan and apprised him of the brutal assault by some ruling party leaders and supporters at Manamunda while they were showing black flags to Food Supply and Consumer Welfare minister Sanjay Dasburma on July 29.

Briefing media persons after the meeting, Singhdeo said his party urged the Governor to take necessary steps for immediate arrest of two ministers, the BJD MLA of Begunia and two corporators under whose instructions the BJD supporters had brutally attacked the BJP activists.

“We informed the Governor that the police investigation into the matter is most likely to be hampered as the FIR has been lodged against two ministers. Besides, we also apprised him of the fact that no action has been taken against the culprits till date though a case has been registered under the Arms Act and ST and SC Act,” he added.

Notably, BJD supporters thrashed BJP activists for showing black flags to minister and Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) president Sanjay Dasburma at Manamunda in Boudh district on July 29, when he was on his way to attend a rally organized by the Youth wing of BJD to protest the proposed projects by Chhattisgarh government on the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi.

Soon, BJD legislator from Begunia Prashant Jagdev, who was following Dasburma in another vehicle, stopped and attacked the BJP workers in the presence of police.
