Nuapada: In a tragic incident, an elderly man was trampled to death by wild elephants near Oreibahar village in Nuapada district Monday morning.

The incident took place this morning near the Haladi forest when the deceased, Lati Pandey had gone to attend nature's call.

While returning home, suddenly a group of five elephants attacked and trampled him thereby killing him on the spot.

Meanwhile, locals complained of spotting the wild pachyderms in the nearby human settlements. "The elephants have strayed into the nearby forests from Chhattisgarh. The forest department has not taken any step to capture them despite repeated complaints," alleged a local.
