Youth, three others roughed up for eloping with woman

Baripada: Four persons including three of a family were roughed for allegedly eloping with a married woman of Takatpur area in ward number 24 here on Sunday.

Reports said Sashikant Chand resident of Bhelura village in Basta block of Balasore along with his father, uncle and their driver were beaten black and blue after being tied to an electric pole by the woman’s husband and their relative.

Sources said Sashikant had allegedly eloped with the woman on June 25 following which a missing complaint was lodged at Baripada police station. The police later rescued the woman from Mumbai and handed over to her family.

After getting a call from the woman Sashikant called on to have a settlement on the matter but he and his two other family members and driver were mercilessly beaten after arriving at the village.

Informed, police rescued all four of them and admitted to hospital.

Meanwhile, the woman’s father blamed Sashikant saying that he tried to forcibly take her which prompted them to take action.
