Man thrashed for stealing baby in Soro

Soro: A man was thrashed by locals today near Bahanaga railway gate in Soro after being suspected of stealing a newborn baby. However, she was found to be dead.

The locals grew suspicious about the man, identified as Biju Naik of Patharapentha village under Bahanaga block, seeing him with the baby near the railway gate. When they enquired from him, the man was not able to give a satisfactory answer. This led to a public outrage and people beat him up.

Naik is a habitual offender and had been involved in several theft cases in trains.

The Khantapada police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
