Man shot with arrow over political rivalry

Keonjhar: A man sustained critical injuries after being shot with an arrow at Akhupala village under Ghatgaon police station in the district on Sunday.

Hrusikesh Naik was admitted to Ghatgaon Health Centre in critical condition.

A group of people attacked Naik with axes and sticks while one Gopal Dandapata of the neighbouring village shot him with an arrow when he was passing their village on his bike.

He escaped the mob luckily to reach his house. Family members rushed him to the hospital.

They alleged that the assault is an outcome of political rivalry. The mob belonging to a particular political group attacked him as his family members voted for a particular candidate in the last panchayat elections.

A case has been registered with police in this connection.
