Khurda: Panic gripped Pichukuli area in Khurda district after a man was shot dead near a paint factory this evening.
According to police, Rachita Panda, supply inspector of Nayagarh block, and her husband Sunil Parida, were staying separately due to a dispute between them since last few months.
Rachita was on the way to Nayagarh from Bhubaneswar with her maternal brother Sanjay Panda when two miscreants fired at them near a paint factory in Pichukuli area. While Sanjay died on the spot, Rachita escaped with minor injuries.
Following information, police rushed to the spot and took the body to the district headquarters hospital for post mortem.
Narrating the incident before the Nayagarh SP, Rachita said her husband and his associate had opened fire at them.
Following a complaint lodged by Rachita, police has started investigation and begun a manhunt to nab Sunil who has absconded.
