Kendrapara: Panic gripped Kendrapara after a youth was shot at by unidentified miscreants near Badamangala Fire office Thursday afternoon.

The injured, identified as Debasish Das, was reportedly working with Gupta Engineering Agency in Cuttack.

As per sources, the incident occurred at around 12 pm near Badamangala locality when some unknown miscreants fired at Das and fled. Critical, Das was admitted to Kendrapara Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.

Police, after receiving information, rushed to the spot and began investigation into the incident. As per preliminary investigation, police suspect that the incident is fallout of some extortion related issues.

“Investigation is on to find out the reason behind the attack. Das has been shifted to SCB Medical and is undergoing treatment. We will wait for what Das has to say about this,” said a police official.
