Man ends life over marital dispute

Puri: A marital discord turned tragic after a man committed suicide allegedly by hanging himself at Gadabhingura village under Puri Sadar Police Station in the district today.

Santanu Patra who had some dispute with his wife, was found hanging from a tree in the village, police said. He reportedly explained the reasons in his Facebook account before taking such extreme step.  Extra-marital affair continued to trigger quarrels between them many times, which ultimately forced him to take the drastic step, he alleged in his FB account. However, police said they were unaware about the post in social media.

"We are unaware about his Facebook post. Prima facie, family dispute seems to be the reason of suicide. His mother lodged a complaint in this connection. We have registered a case and are investigating. The exact reason can only be ascertained after post-mortem," IIC Gaurang Charan Prusty said.

"Patra was doing job in Bengaluru and had come to village a day before. His wife was in his in-laws house when he committed suicide, Prusty added.
