Man dies in accident; Locals stage road blockade

Salepur: Vehicular movement on the Cuttack-Chandbali road came to a grinding halt on Saturday morning after locals staged a road blockade following the death of a person in an accident near Machuati square here.

According to sources, a speeding bus hit a bike near Machuati square on this morning causing the death of the rider on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Rudra Prasad Das of Sapanpur area.

As soon as news of the death of Das spread in the locality, locals, along with the family members of the deceased, staged a road blockade on Cuttack-Chandbali road demanding compensation.

They, however, withdrew their strike after getting assurance from police.
