Sambalpur: A man was hospitalised after he was shot at by a youth over suspected past enmity in Sambalpur district on Sunday.

The injured Ganesh Jagadwal of Stationpara was returning home from the market when one Banti Suna opened fire at him.

Ganesh, who sustained bullet injury on his left thigh, was rushed to the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and his condition is stated to be stable now.

"Banti accompanied by two others detained me while I was returning from market. They wanted to talk over some past issues. But when I denied, Banti took out the gun and shot me," alleged Ganesh.

On being informed, Khetrajpur police rushed to the spot and launched a manhunt to nab the accused Banti and his associates.

"The accused Banti Suna and his aides intercepted Ganesh near Sector D in Railway Colony and fled the spot after the committing the offence," informed Inspector-in-Charge of Khetrajpur police station, Jogesh Panda adding that both were not in good terms over past enmity.
