Man brands 5-yr-old son with hot iron for not studying

Bhubaneswar: In a bizarre incident, a man branded his five-year-old son with hot iron as a punishment over study in Dhauli area here today.

According to sources, the father branded his son with hot iron as he was not studying. The child was admitted to the Capital Hospital here, where doctors found several burn marks on his body. Later, the mother of the child filed a complaint at the Dhauli police station. Acting on the complaint, police detained the accused.

“He is always very mischievous and would run to the river and was not listening to anyone. His mother is a patient and unable to put up with his mischief, I branded him out of anger,” said the accused father.

“I went to a hospital for my blood test. By the time I returned, I saw my husband had branded the boy with hot iron rod,” said second wife of the accused.
