Rourkela: A man was allegedly thrashed by staff of a privately-run school located in Sector-5 in Rourkela for opposing sale of uniforms on the educational institution premises on Wednesday.

The incident came to the fore after a video footage of the attack on the man, who is stated to be an activist of a political party, went viral.

When the school principal was asked about the matter, he denied that the person was beaten up by the school staff.

He said, “As a company had mistakenly delivered some dress material and books in the school, its staff were present on Wednesday to collect them back. The staff of the company might have beaten up the man as some members of a political party were opposing the company.”

After receiving complaints, the local Tehsildar reached the spot and sent the injured man to the Ispat General hospital. Besides, he launched a probe into the matter and seized a vehicle laden with books.

As per the latest Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) guidelines, any school affiliated to it cannot involve in commercial activities on school premises.
