Man arrested for wild boar poaching

Bolangir: A man was arrested for allegedly poaching a wild boar while four others managed to escape at Kharlikani village in Bolangir district on wee hours of Monday.

Acting on a tip off, a team of forest officials raided the place and arrested the poacher. "They were distributing the meat among themselves in a dark place. When we came closer, four of them managed to flee. We arrested one and seized the meat and weapons used in poaching," Sagarika Seth, Bolangir Sadar forester said.

The arrested poacher will be forwarded to court tomorrow, she added. They poached the animal in the nearby Mathakhai forest, Seth said.
