Man abandons wife for refusing to abort

Cuttack: A pregnant woman in Tinikonia Bagicha of Cuttack city was allegedly abandoned by her husband for not obeying his order to abort the baby she was carrying in her womb.

The matter came to light after the victim lodged a complaint at the police station seeking justice.

Sources said the woman had married one Ajay Rout of Mahanga in the district in court. The couple had been staying in a rented house at Tinikonia Bagicha here.

Police said the woman was forced by her husband to abort her child thrice. The victim alleged that her husband and relatives started torturing her after she refused to terminate her pregnancy for the fourth time. Rout allegedly abandoned his wife when she did not relent.

Police are investigating the case.
