Malkangiri MLA slams administration for issuing death certificate of living woman

Malkangiri: Death certificate of a living woman has been allegedly issued in Kalimela of Malkangiri district. Such an allegation against the local administration was brought today by MLA Manas Madkami.

According to sources, the mother of Sindhu Madhuri had applied for a death certificate of the latter, near the Sub Collector, claiming that she had died on June 23, 2013. Surprisingly the Revenue Inspector o the area had also submitted a report in 2014 stating that Madhuri is dead.

Following it, the death certificate was issued on January 08, 2015.

However, the incident came to light when Madhuri took a loan of Rs 30,000 from a private finance company on January 20, 2015. While her neighbour identified as Srinu also claimed her to be alive, statements of Madhuri and her mother could not be recorded as they were not at home.

On the other hand Sub-Collector Birendra Karkara said that Tehsildar has been instructed to probe on the case. Talking to media persons he said, “After receiving the allegation that Sindhu Madhuri, daughter of late S Baburao, is alive and has obtained a death certificate from my office I have instructed the Kalimela Tehsildar to probe on the case and submit a factual report.”

He further added, “After getting the report if it is found that she is alive, strict action will be taken against erring staff.”
