Kendrapara: Residents of the Kendrapara Parilamentary Constituency today demanded that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should be made a party in the false poll affidavit case filed against local MP Baijayant 'Jay' Panda.

A memorandum regarding this was submitted at the Town Police station alleging that BJD president & CM Naveen Patnaik had awarded the party ticket to Panda twice and he is well aware about the Parliamentarian as they share strong family ties.

The parliamentarian must have prepared and submitted his affidavit after consultation with Naveen, therefore the latter should me made party in the case, the petitioners demanded. The residents also demanded that their statements should be recorded during the proceedings of the case.

"We want to ask Naveen Patnaik that was he not aware about the discrepancies in affidavit while giving party ticket for MP seat to Baijayant Panda twice. We demand that Naveen should also be made a party in the case for supporting Panda," said a Kendrapara resident, Brajabandhu Sahu.

The Town Police is presently investigating the matter after instructions from the local SDJM court.

Panda’s political secretary Jyoti Prakash Ghose had earlier termed the poll affidavit case against the parliamentarian as baseless.
