Bhubaneswar: The State government is planning to organise roadshows in Tokyo and Osaka cities of Japan and Bangkok in Thailand from October 30 to attract investment, informed Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera on Wednesday. This road show will showcase the concept of Make in Odisha.

As part of the roadshow, an eight-member team led by Behera will visit the three cities for seven days and hold talks with businessmen to draw investments.

After a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat here, Behera told mediapersons, "The team will talk to businessmen of Japan and Thailand for possible investment in tourism and industry sectors of the State."

In 2016, the State government had staged roadshows in Mumbai, Bengaluru and the showpiece event - 'Make in Odisha' conclave in Bhubaneswar.

The State government's Mumbai roadshow was held in February during the Government of India's 'Make in India' week. This was followed by Global Investors' Summit in Bengaluru in August. Fourteen companies proposed investment plans worth Rs 70,959 crore in Mumbai whereas Rs 90,670 crore investment intentions were made in Bengaluru.

In November 2016, the state government had organised a roadshow in Hyderabad in collaboration with Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Government of India and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) ahead of the Make-in-Odisha Conclave in Bhubaneswar.
