Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary A P Padhi today asked the water resources department to make at least six mega lift irrigation projects operational by October 31, official sources said.

The six projects are located at Agalapur, Baharasuga, Kapsila, Belgaon and Kusmal in Bolangir district and Amath in Kalahandi district.

The work for these six projects have been completed.

Energy Secretary HK Sharma, who was present at the meeting, said advance steps were being taken to energise these points along with completion of the construction.

"The projects at Laitara and Utkela in Kalahandi district and Gudvella in Bolangir district have already been commissioned and these three projects are supplying water to around 3000 hectors," Water resources secretary P K Jena said

Pipe laying works in 55 projects were at advanced stages, he said.

Taking into consideration the present status of the work in each project, Padhi has set time lines for completion and commissioning of those projects.
