Boudh: Odisha police on Tuesday busted a major fake currency racket that was operating for the last two months in Boudh district.

Fake notes with worth Rs 1.06 lakh in Rs 2,000, Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 100 denominations were seized and four accused have also been arrested in connection with the incident by Boudh police.

The accused have been identified as Biswapati Sahu, Bhagwan Meher, Binod Shah and Balram Meher.

Addressing a press conference, additional SP Sushil Panigrahi informed that the the gang was involved in printing and circulation of fake notes in the market.

Biswapati Sahu, the prime accused had set up a currency printing unit at Bargarh and the racket was active in circulation of fake notes in several places in Odisha, informed sources.

“We have arrested four persons and seized fake notes worth Rs 1.06 lakh after raids today. A printer, laptop, car and other printing materials have also been seized,” said Panigrahi.
