Bhubaneswar/Bhadrak: Voicing against the rising trend of atrocities and crimes against girls and women in Odisha, the State unit of BJP's women wing launched a state-wide Mahila Suraksha Yatra today.

The yatra kick-started from seven prominent temples, including Sikharchandi Temple in Bhubaneswar, Chandi Temple in Cuttack, Bhadrakali Temple in Bhadrak, Samleswari Temple in Sambalpur, Maa Mangala Temple in Puri's Kakatpur, Kandhuni Temple in Ganjam's Surada and Patneswari Temple in Patnagarh.

During the 11-day Yatra, the activists will cover seven routes while holding 450 public meetings to sensitise the women on various important issues, their rights, safety and security.

BJP woman leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar, who took the leadership of the Yatra in Bhadrak said, "We have launched the Mahila Suraksha Yatra for the security, security and dignity of women after seeking the blessing of Maa Bhadrakali here. I will be accompanied by our leaders from Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj and try to reach every household in the state and create awareness . The Yatra will conclude on May 29."

"The Naveen Patnaik led BJD Government has failed to provide safety to women. Be it a 3-year-old or a 53-year-old woman, no one is safe in the State. The government has miserably failed to address the rising crime against women," said a woman activist participating in the Yatra.
