Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Da (BJD) will hold a meeting here today in view of its plan to organise a mega human chain and a signature campaign across the State as part of its movement against the projects on river Mahanadi.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to attend the meeting to be joined by party MLAs, MPs and other leaders. Besides fixing a date, the party leaders would chalk out a comprehensive plan for the campaigns.
The party would plan its strategies to make the human chain programme a grand success, said a part leader.

The party has planned to organise a 500-km long human chain on the NH from Hirakud to Paradip in a single day to attract attention of the common people towards the Mahandi issue. The human chain that would begin from Hirkud dam would pass through Sambalpur, Redhakhol, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Tirtol before culminating at Paradip.

Through the campaign, the party leaders would protest against the monopoly activities of the Centre and construction of dams and barrages over the Mahanadi by the Chhattisgarh government.
