New Delhi: The meeting between Odisha and Chhattisgarh brokered by the Centre will be held today to resolve the dispute between the two neighbouring states over the sharing of Mahanadi water, which has snowballed into a major row between the two after Chhattisgarh embarked on a host of projects in the upper catchments of the river.

The meeting will be chaired by Union Water Resources secretary Sashi Sekhar.

According to sources, the meeting will clear the air on a host of contentious issues pertaining to the projects undertaken by Chhattisgarh on Mahanadi. The meeting will discuss whether the projects were approved by the Central Water Commission (CWC) and whether there has been a discussion between both the State governments on these projects?

CWC authorities will also be present at the meeting, which will be held in New Delhi today.

Notably, BJD yesterday moved a privilege motion against Minister of State for Water resources, Sanjeev Balyan in the Lok Sabha alleging he presented misleading facts in the Parliament on the projects undertaken by Chhattisgarh.
