Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD has decided to launch a protest against Chhattisgarh’s proposed barrage on the upstream of the Mahanadi River in 15 districts from July 25 till August 11.

Alleging that the Chhattisgarh government is deliberately planning to inflow of Mahanadi river water into Odisha, BJD has demanded that the Central Water Commission (CWC) and the Central government must intervene and stop the work on the project immediately.

Moreover, the youth wing of BJD will launch a protest from July 25, informed the party at a press meet, where MP Prasanna Acharya, minister Sanjay Dasburma and Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) chairman Kishore Mohanty. among others, were present.

“We have already launched protests. We expect the CWC to intervene. If the CWC does not carry out its responsibility, then the last resort we have is A legal fight,” said Acharya.

“In protest against the Central government’s callousness and Chhattisgarh government’s irresponsible behavior, BJD will launch the protest in 15 districts from July 25,” said Sanjay Dasburma at the press meet.
