Cuttack: As a part of its state-wide protest over projects undertaken by the Chhattisgarh government on the upper catchment of Mahanadi, the ruling BJD today staged a protest rally in front of the Cuttack collector's office.

According to sources, all the BJD MLAs from Cuttack district, minister and hundreds of party activists participated in the rally.

Earlier, notwithstanding its consent for a joint control board (JCB) with Chhattisgarh government to solve issues related to sharing of Mahanadi river, BJD stopped all Chhattisgarh-bound goods trains at railway stations for half-an hour as a token protest yesterday.
