Mahalei Livestock Inspector in Vigilance net, raids on

Bolangir: Vigilance sleuths today conducted simultaneous raids on the houses of Mahalei Livestock Inspector Pradeep Mishra on charges of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income. The raids were conducted at five places basing on a search warrant issued by Bolangir Special Vigilance Judge.

The teams of State Vigilance searched houses located in Mahalei and Utkal Nagar, ancestral home at Beherapalli, another residence at Ulunda and father-in-law's house at Kelenda village.

During the search, the Vigilance sleuths recovered bank account passbooks belonging to different persons.

Informing newsmen about the raids, Vigilance DSP, Bargarh, Rabi Narayan Patra said, “Incriminating documents including record of rights of different persons and loan documents have been seized. It seems the Mahalei Livestock Inspector was involved in getting loans for people.”

Refuting the charges, Pradeep stated, “I have not amassed disproportionate assets. Whatever I have right now is the inherited property from my father who was also a State government employee.”

Asked about the bank passbooks recovered by the sleuths, Pradeep said, “As a Livestock Inspector has to sanction dairy loan, I have kept the passbooks for verification to be sure that a loanee has not taken any loans earlier.”
