Bhubaneswar: Days after Congress leader Bapi Sarkhel accused Excise minister Damodar Rout of taking money from chit fund company Astha International, senior party leader Lalatendu Bidyadhara Mohapatra has trained his guns on the government - this time for its failure to control the law and order situation in the state.

The Congress leader on Saturday alleged that the government had failed to take any action against the BJD corporator against whom two land grab cases have been lodged at Laxmisagar police station.

Even though the coporator is also involved in tender fixing cases, the police has failed to take any action against the BJD corporator, Mohapatra alleged.

Similarly, police is yet to take any action against the brother of a corporator against whom a sensitive case has been registered at Saheed Nagar police station, Mohapatra stated.

Refuting the allegation, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation corporator Amaresh Jena said, “As far as we know, there is nothing like that. As I was a part of the student wing of the Congress in my college days, it is a conspiracy against me. We have solved the maximum cases that were filed in my college days.”

When asked about the land grab allegation made by the Congress leader, the BJD corporator said, “Land grab can only be done in the kind of politics that Lulu Babu believes in. There is no scope for such unethical activity in BJD.”
