Bhubaneswar: The local Met office has predicted heavy rainfall in some parts of coastal Odisha in the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure.

A Met release this afternoon said under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation over west-central and north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh, a low pressure area has formed over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh at 8.30 AM today with associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height.

Under its influence, rain or thunder shower will occur at most places over coastal Odisha and a few places over interior Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over districts of coastal Odisha during next 24 hours.

Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into sea in South Odisha coast as surface wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph with a maximum speed of 55 kmph would prevail during the period making the sea condition moderate to rough, the release added.
