Bhubaneswar: Heavy rains will lash most parts of interior Odisha in the next 24 hours as the low pressure has moved to Madhya Pradesh, the local Met office said today.

In a release this afternoon, the Met office has said the low pressure, which had centred over north Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand, has now moved further and was lying over the northeast Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood at about 8.30 AM today with the associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 2.1 km above mean sea level.

Under its influence, rain or thunder shower will occur at most places over Odisha with heavy rainfall at most places in interior Odisha during the next 24 hours, the release said.

Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea in the coastal pockets as surface wind from northwest direction with speed reaching 45-50 kmph with a gusting up to 60 kmph will result in the rise of high tide up to 3-4 metres, the release added.
