Bhubaneswar: The Met department has predicted heavy rainfall in north Odisha during the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure over Bay of Bengal.

“The low pressure area formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal yesterday has moved and now lies over Jharkhand and adjoining areas of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal this morning while the associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.

"Under its influence, rain or thundershower is likely to occur at most places over North Odisha and many places over South Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over North Odisha during next 24 hours,” a Met release issued this afernoon said.

The release also said that the fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into sea as the wind speed during the period could be 30-45 kmph.
