Bhubaneswar: A Ganesh idol on its way for immersion landed up in a police station following a clash during the procession at Salia Sahi of Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

The idol had spent the night at Nayapalli police station in Bhubaneswar after some of the members of the procession party which was taking the idol for immersion hurled stones at a particular house. Some were also seen wielding swords in what looked like a violent mob, said sources.

As the situation turned tense Nayapalli police reached the spot and detained the truck carrying the Ganesh idol.

While the mob dispersed after police reached the spot, two swords and one bike were seized from the spot. The truck was brought to Nayapalli police station and later three persons were arrested, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.

After spending all night on police station premises, the idol was immersed by Nayapalli police today morning.
