Cuttack: In a major development in the much hyped Lopamudra Mishra dowry torture case, the Orissa High Court today rejected the anticipatory bail petition of industrialist and father-in-law of the victim Trailokya Mishra.

On July 4, the Court had given the industrialist, his son Sabyasachi and wife Ashamanjari interim protection from arrest till July 29 and had directed the police to submit the case diary before that date.

Notably, Lopamudra had filed a dowry harassment case against Trailokya Mishra, her husband Sabyasachi and mother-in-law in the Mahila Police station in Bhubaneswar on June 14 this year.

She had also told the media that she had been physically and mentally tortured by her husband since their marriage in 2006 even accusing her husband of making an attempt at wife-swapping on her.

Acting on the complaint, Commissionerate police on June 17 had issued a notice to Trailokya Mishra, his wife and son asking them to be present physically before the Kharvela Nagar police by June 22.

Since all three are absconding, the notice was pasted on their house in Bhubaneswar.

Lopamudra had also filed a case against her husband and in-laws in Kharavela Nagar Police Station in April this year.
