Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police today issued a look out notice against Manoj Nayak, the owner of the SUM Hospital where 21 patients were killed after a deadly fire mishap.

According to sources, the circular was issued against Manoj Nayak, his wife Saswati Das, both of whom are the trustees of the Shiksha O’ Anusandhan Charitable Trust.

The circular has been issued to prevent Manoj and his wife from moving out of country, informed Police Commissioner YB Khurania. Moreover, a letter has also been sent to the Union Home ministry in this regard, informed Khurania.

“We have alerted all the airports and ports and have shared their passport particulars. They cannot travel abroad. When a particular person is being searched for and is not available to cooperate in the investigation, there is a high likelihood that he could move out of the country, hence a circular has been issued to prevent any delay in investigation,” Khurania said.

Meanwhile, police raided the office of Manoj and seized important documents. However, during the raid on his house at Dharma Vihar, police found the house locked and the mobile phone of Manoj switched off.

Sources in the commissionerate police said special plans have been made for investigation on the basis of seizure of important documents. Besides, investigation is on into the work and role of the some officials of SUM Hospital. Going by the sequence of events and the preliminary investigation, the number of arrests could increase, the sources added.
Earlier, Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) sources said that Manoj is likely to be arrested.
Talking to newsmen, Director of Medical Education & Training Prakash Chandra Mohapatra, said, “As we have filed a case against the management of the SUM hospital, there is a chance of arrest of Manoj Nayak, who is also a member of the management.”
