Bhubaneswar: Logjam continued for the second day of the Monsoon Session at the Odisha Assembly as the ruling BJD created a ruckus over the Mahanadi and Polavarm issues.
Soon after the Assembly proceedings began, the BJD leaders raised slogans against the Centre over the Mahanadi and Polavarm issues. Opposition Congress members also stormed into the well of the House shouting slogans halting the proceeding of the House.
The uproarious scenes in the house forced the Speaker to adjourn the house till 3 pm.

Later, the BJD ministers and legislators staged a dharna near the Mahatma Gandhi statue located on the premises of the Assembly.
On the other hand, the leader of the opposition blamed the ruling party for the ruckus in the House and the disrespect shown towards the national anthem on the first day of the monsoon session of the assembly and has written a letter to the President demanding the resignation of chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
Commenting over the impasse at the Odisha Assembly, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Narasingha Mishra said, “It is clear that the Speaker being partial did not me allow to speak in the house. The Speaker and the chief minister Naveen Patnaik are murdering the democracy. The chief minister should resign from his post.”
While the proceedings resumed, normalcy was seen for some time following which the Opposition leader targeted the ruling party over the disrespect shown to the national anthem in Assembly. Moreover, the Opposition leader also demanded that the proposal on Mahanadi issue given by the Opposition should be accepted and taken up for discussion.
Later on, the speaker of the House called for a meeting to ensure normalcy. After the meeting yielded no positive results the Speaker convened a business advisory committee meeting.
"The BJP fears that if there is a discussion then the its incompetence will be exposed, which is why it their strategy to avoid discussions by disrupting the proceedings in the House," said BJP MLA Pradeep Purohit.
In response to these allegations Law Minister Arun Sahoo said "The issues will definitely be discussed in the Assembly. But certain strategies have to be adopted to make the warn the Central government. We have to intensify the stir to ensure that a historical mistake is not committed."
