Balasore: Tension erupted in Digibhanra village under Gopinathpur panchayat in Soro block of Balasore district after locals detained a police vehicle which had arrived to arrest two persons accused of looting ornaments from a woman here on Thursday.

As per sources, two bike-borne miscreants intercepted one Rangabati Mallick in the village when she was on way and looted her ornaments.

However, one of the miscreants, identified as Rajendra Senapati of nearby Manipur village was caught by the locals while trying to escape from the spot.

Getting information, police rushed to the spot to arrest the accused but locals, in protest, detained the police vehicle and did not allow them to investigate into the incident and arrest the accused.

The villagers alleged that police have been negligent in doing their duties due to which miscreants in the area are creating nuisance. They get arrested but are released soon, the villagers further stated.
